Spring is here, VANCOUVER BOAT SHOW Starts Today - January 21, 2015
Leaving Toronto after the Boat Show on Sunday, I knew that spring would be a short two months away. However, arriving in Vancouver, a few hours later, it felt like spring was definitely upon me. Sunny and warm, with boats in the water . . . what a joy!
I will be at the Vancouver Boat Show presenting 3 seminars this year.
The three seminars are:
1. REDUCING THE ANXIETY OF BOATING
Most boaters experience some anxiety when heading out on the water. This type of anxiety can be “healthy” as it makes us more cautious and alert. However, some people develop “unhealthy anxiety” discouraging and even preventing them from the boating experience. This clinic will look at the causes of anxiety in boating, and provide tools to help you manage the risks. By managing the risks associated with boating, your anxiety will be reduced to a level where your boating experience will be safe and pleasurable.
2. TRANSITTING THE PANAMA CANAL IN A PLEASURE CRAFT
The hull of Voyageur 10.10 flowed from the waters of the Atlantic to those of the Pacific via The Panama Canal. It was, April 2014, the 100th Anniversary of this formidable link between two great oceans. Join Ken to learn, firsthand, what it entails to confidently transit the Panama Canal aboard your own vessel. With a Step by Step Approach, he will unravel the mysteries associated with a Panama transit. From experience, Ken will inform you of suggested routes to and from the canal, expected weather and safety issues, convenient staging areas and marinas. He will also discuss agents, costs and formalities. Pursue a new ocean frontier by transiting the Panama Canal!
3. CRUISING THE GALAPAGOS
Tick this one off your bucket list! Some dream of it; others do it! You can too! Sail to a place where Darwin synthesized his theories on “the origin of species” and “natural selection”. The Galapagos Islands; aka The Archipelago of Colon is unique. Ecuador knows the value of its precious creatures and natural beauty and legislates to protect them. Ken will discuss what you can and cannot do, and where you can and cannot go on your private boat, while touring these fabled islands. He will walk you through the process; from routes and weather to costs and formalities so you can cruise, snorkel, trek and love the Galapagos. Sail to a place that most only dream of; discover the Galapagos on your boat.
HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT!
